Five Haiku Poems: Run of the Horse (for Mooks)

Galloping horses –
you hear their pounding so clear.
The stampede’s quite near.

Find the strength; it’s there.
Behold fears – immense glaciers,
reduced to vapor.

Disperse the *brain fog.
Purge doubts out to shadow lands.
Let your heart now mend.

Thunder hooves dig deep.
Their thuds echo all around.
Booming sounds abound.

They beat inside you.
A fierce, unstoppable force –
the run of the horse.

My poem is dedicated to my brother, Mike (Mooks), who had a quadruple bypass a few weeks ago. From a young age, he’s struggled with a myriad of health issues. Despite all the challenges Mike has faced, he works full-time as an insurance consultant. He’s the strongest (and funniest) guy I know. I love you, Mooks.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! The best gifts are family and friends.

May the New Year bring you peace, health, and love.Β πŸ’

*Brain fog is a temporary side effect from medication. The person can experience confusion, lack of mental clarity, paranoia, and forgetfulness.
