She stared at him sleeping –
watching his chest
rise and fall.
At times, she would rest
an ear over his heart –
listening.
Saying his name out loud
or whispering.
He didn’t hear her at all.
One day they found him –
not breathing.
Blood on the floor.
His razor covered in red.
He wanted to be with her –
they said.
In the corner of the room,
she held him close.
Their souls intertwined.
Her wispy fingers-
crimson stained.
He paid them no mind.
My poem was inspired by Merril’s amazing short story.

Yes. He found life sadly wanting after her death and left to join her. Or did she make him join her?

Hmm. Her fingers were stained red, so she seems quite guilty! Thanks for reading my poem so carefully.

Great poem! It repays careful reading. The first time, I rushed through it and completely misunderstood the situation. (Incidentaly, the story that inspired you was a good one too.). 🙂

Nice poem … Ugly story! … I also love to hear her heart beat ,,, put my ears on her chest whilst sleeping … BUT …! A an ugly scary thought comes across my mind … and I stop immediately! … If it was to stop ? … It would be my end also!

Excellent… life separated them and so they took matters in their hands and invited death to unite them again, this time, eternally… ❤
P.S. Read Merril's story and commented, but it went into the spam folder. Kindly ask her to rescue me if possible… 🙂
