Traversing this landscape was familiar yet strange. The ground felt soft. Wind whooshed around Manny, and he tumbled; airborne. He saw a gigantic flying bird and realized what had been beneath his feet. Falling to earth, he prayed not to hit ground. The bird spied him and swallowed Manny whole.
beautiful soft ground….

I always enjoy your fifty word stories. This one is disorienting, in a fun way. FTM’s photo helped with that effect. Never would I have guessed that is a feather.

It’s a strange story and was somewhat inspired by Winston Churchill’s short story, Man Overboard!

I thought Fly’s feather photograph looked like a Ruffles potato chip 😀 Thanks for your comment, Oggy — I always enjoy your feedback.

Amazing words, and equally amazing photo…I thought it was a field of drilled corn!!

Ah, a cornfield! Yes, I can see that. Many thanks! Fly’s photo did all the work and hasn’t even taken a break 🙂

The end was quick, and he didn’t go splat in someone’s yard, so in a way, it was a happy ending. 😜

I was wondering why it was so dark in here
as I tried to find the lite switch
with no luck
as I wait for excess
or a slow boat down the canal
Good morning Rose
Great read

Poor Manny. How did he wind up on Big Bird’s back in the first place?

I’m sure you birds will get together later and trade notes. Unfortunately, I have no idea. I sometimes just get remnants of an idea and have to fill in the blanks. Birds are so secretive! I’m constantly walking on eggshells when you guys are around 😀

Walking on eggshells upsets birds, especially if they’re still occupied!
