It sprung from the grass –
a hungry plant with sharp teeth
bit at my bare feet.

Ouch!! It will be a while before I have to worry about those plants 🙂

With how warm the weather’s been around here, I know those plants will be biting sooner than normal!

Oh, something we don’t have to worry about here yet!

I liked how your toothy plant collapsed and yellow, stinky smoke appeared! Too funny. 👾

The question is: what kind of screech would a plant make? Would it sound like a house cat? or a congested leopard? Hmmm….

Hmm…. I kinda think your plant would sound like a Bison growl. Lol. That sounds funny, but have you ever heard a bison growling?? Listen to it here:

Haha — my older sister had a cake shaped like a bison at her wedding. I didn’t have a piece, so please don’t ask me what bison tastes like \”/

Why was the cake shaped like a bison?

That’s a great question!…I don’t know.

I hope someone kind will be able to answer my burning question one day. I love the dark, but I don’t like being left in it. 😳

Ooh, I have an image of it biting your bare foot and then the rake handle coming up to say hello to your eye, just like in a Tom and Jerry cartoon. I hope it was all just poetic imagining!

I was knocked silly when I was about six years old by the handle hitting square between the eyes. And it did seem like it had just “sprung from the grass.” :0

I completely empathize, Doug! Those blasted rakes!! 😀

That did happen exactly how you described it but when I was a teenager. Haha!! I love Tom & Jerry!

Yikes! Sorry to hear that. I’m glad it wasn’t recently, though, but safely in the past where it’s no longer painful.

It’s only painful when “someone” keeps bringing it up. Haha!! I’m only teasing you, darling… kinda. 😀

It happened to you, too! Aw, I’m sorry, but something tells me that rakes will stay out of your way from now on. Stay on Bernard Boulevard, and all you’ll need to worry about are six eyed aliens. 👀 👀 👀

So far, I have never set my rake down with the teeth upward. If I ever do that, arcane quantum mechanical calculations predict that I will probably step on it soon afterward. The rake’s handle is too short to reach my head, but it could give me a memorable clunk in the junk.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Ouch! 😀 Are you that tall, Mel? 👖🌭
LikeLiked by 1 person
Being a mad scientist, I responded to your scepticism with measurement. My rake has a 43-inch handle and would actually clunk me in the stomach. Now my scientific scruples tussle with the urge to take poetic license in a haiku about a Demon Rake:
A short-handled rake
waits (teeth up) to deliver
a clunk in the junk.
Ending with “a clunk in the gut” would not have the same zing. 😦

Bravo, Mel! I loved your wickedly funny haiku, darling!! Okay, I was thinking for a moment there, that you were at least 7 feet tall! Lol. xo

I cannot look at a rake without imagining the comedy moment of stepping on it and being hit on the head by the handle.

Haha! You usually appear more serious than humorous that when you say something funny, I have to read it twice and delight in it. 😀 Yes, it’s not so funny to the person getting “bitten” by a rake, but it’s hilarious watching it happen to someone else! xo

I am nowhere near as serious as I may come across!

I would love to see that! 🙂 Incidentally, I was looking for the sexy haiku poems you had mentioned earlier, but it’s difficult maneuvering through your blog. I’m able to pull up the archives on mine, but I can’t on yours. I’m kinda bummed. 😦

That’s weird…I may need to reorganise at some point. I am halfway through my free space and am thinking about long-term solutions to my blog/s

Oh, wait, I see the archives! Yes!! Did you just put them there? Sorry; I might be thinking of someone else’s blog. Doh! You have other blogs??

No, but when I run out of space I might split into two or three. I haven’t yet decided.

I stepped on a rake once. It was a good bang. When I composed myself, I headed to the garden shed to look in the mirror and estimate the damage, but my young daughter run behind me screaming ‘Don’t look, don’t look!’ Was she right! 🙂

Ow! I’m sorry 😦 What a darling daughter you have! It doesn’t appear you’ve sustained any permanent damage, so that’s a good thing, I hope! 🙂
