I hear you calling and I shut down.
You tug at my elbow.
Pretending not to feel you –
yet dying when you leave me alone.

Your words tempt me
as you snake your way into my brain.
I take the bite of that apple
with no remorse; no reclaim.

The angel taps me on my shoulder.
Boredom yawns in my face.
Why is it fun to break the halo –
to take a hard fall from grace?

Temptation squeezes me tight.
I moan from pain and pleasure.
New resolutions be damned.
Being bad is a twisted adventure.

  1. Your poem shares a component in life I write about regularly. Your words describe the constant trials and tribulations of emotional torment and blessings; the battle to reach a plateau to only slip and fall once again into turmoil. I call this the search for BALANCE. You poetically describe the difficulty achieving it. Well done.

  2. New year resolutions be dammed.
    A great poem Rose.

So glad I now have you and
    your wonderful talent as friends.

Even though you live so far away
In the big old US of A
and me, upon the fog bound
    streets of London,
    a good friend of yours
    I shall always stay.

    Happy New Year Rose xxx

        • It was fascinating to read from your post that Medusa was actually a symbol of women’s strengths and how women had their own sacred ceremonies. Unfortunately, the killing of Medusa also marked the era of when men completely overtook the temples.

Thank you! I learn so much from reading your well researched posts! xo, Rose

  4. It’s the afterwards when you wake up from that long sleep and your head is feeling the after effects
God how I hated my self in the morning alone
Staring at the face of life
    Wondering what I had done
    All for the sake of……
    Adventure for what
    You touch me
    Maybe not what you accepted
Can’t help the way it made me feel

    • Haha. The poem is merely about broken resolutions. Temptation is always gonna grab us all. It’s fun to see all the different interpretations. Others like to judge, get introspective, or just laugh and see the humor and fun in it.

      Happy New Year!!!
