Leaving the Dark

ghost-1545411

Whispering of voices once silent,
only he can hear in the wind.
Unsure of what she’s become,
he holds her as she sobs.

I’m just a ghost, she wails.

You’re more than that –
You’re a spirit who can now
hold moonbeams in your palm.
He nods; reassuring her.

You’re a soul who’s one with the stars –
a beacon of the night.
Breathe in this gift of light
and leave the dark outside.

  1. This is really good. You capture emotions in your writing so well. You can feel the pain and joy between these two entities that exist in different dimensions. For a person to offer such love and assurance while experiencing their own loss and sorrow is a true blessing. I’ll bet your emotions run deep!

    • My friend, Apollo, inspired this piece so I can only take a little credit. I do love how you talk about two entities existing in different dimensions — such great words! I think I’m not the only one whose emotions run deep, Dr. J! 🙂
